正面描述 Central cross pattée enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a small ring in one angle, two triangles in adjacent angles, and three pellets in the remaining angle. The surrounding legend in Latin runs along the outer border of the roughly circular flan. The design is characteristic of early 11th-century episcopal coinage from the Swabian region, executed in the hammered style with bold, irregular relief.

附加信息

Bishop Siegfried of Augsburg issued this denier during a period when the Bishopric held minting rights granted under the Ottonian and early Salian system of ecclesiastical privilege — a deliberate imperial policy of binding the Church to the crown through economic authority. Augsburg's position on the Lech, astride the major route into Italy, gave its coinage genuine commercial reach beyond a purely ceremonial function.

The Hahn Radas classification places this among a tightly defined group of regional variants, and Steinh#11f narrows it further to a specific die pairing with documented distribution in southern German hoards.
