正面描述 Single-sided bracteate struck on a thin flan exhibiting characteristic concave cupping. The central device depicts a frontal facing eagle's head rendered in low relief, with stylized feathering and prominent eyes, surrounded by a plain raised inner ring. The design is characteristic of Moravian bracteate coinage of the late 13th century, executed in a bold, simplified heraldic style. The irregular flan edge shows the typical ragged, hand-cut outline associated with hammered bracteate production.

附加信息

Wenceslaus II ruled Moravia as margrave under the broader Přemyslid dominion, and the bracteate deniers of this period reflect a monetary tradition already fading across much of Central Europe — thin, single-sided striking on broad flans had largely given way to double-sided coinage in most neighboring territories by this point. Moravia held on longer than most. Cach 997 falls within the middle-weight bracket of a three-tiered series distinguished by flan size and striking weight, a pragmatic response to fluctuating silver availability in the Bohemian mining regions that supplied the blanks.
