| Beschrijving voorzijde | Single-sided bracteate depicting an architectural arcade of two flanking towers or pillars connected by a central arch, above which perches a displayed eagle with wings spread and head turned. Below the arch, within the arcade, stands a passant lion or similar heraldic beast facing left. A circular beaded inner border frames the design, with a Latin legend running around the outer field. The composition reflects the Romanesque artistic style characteristic of mid-twelfth-century German ecclesiastical and comital coinage. |
