| Описание аверса | Divided heraldic shield occupying the central field: the dexter half bears the six-spoked wheel of Mainz, while the sinister half displays a rampant lion facing right, referencing the personal arms of Archbishop Uriel von Gemmingen. The shield is surmounted by the initial letter 'V' for Uriel, positioned at the top center above the escutcheon. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The strike is typical of late medieval hammered bracteate technique, with bold, slightly uneven relief characteristic of small pfennig coinage of the early sixteenth century. |

Uriel von Gemmingen served as Archbishop of Mainz from 1508 until his death in 1514, a tenure shaped largely by his efforts to stabilize a see that had lurched through financial crisis and contested elections for decades. The bracteate denier format — a thin, single-sided silver striking — was already archaic by the early sixteenth century, surviving in the Mainz issues almost entirely by monetary conservatism rather than practical necessity.
The type is catalogued across four major references with only minor die variations between them, suggesting a relatively controlled production run. Schult#1956 remains the most granular treatment of the striking sequence.
