Obverse description Bracteate type depicting Saint Wigbert enthroned, his right hand raised in the act of benediction, seated beside an abbot who holds a crozier as emblem of ecclesiastical authority. Beneath the figures, a tower is rendered within or above an arch, serving as an architectural motif indicative of the abbey. The legend SIGERFII-VNEVS, referencing Abbot Siegfried, is disposed around the field in the characteristic single-sided hammered style of late 12th-century German ecclesiastical bracteates. The composition is executed in low relief with the fine, shallow striking technique typical of Hessian monastic coinage of this period.
