The legend SIGERFII-VNEVS, referencing Abbot Siegfried, is disposed around the field in the characteristic single-sided hammered style of late 12th-century German ecclesiastical bracteates. The composition is executed in low relief with the fine, shallow striking technique typical of Hessian monastic coinage of this period.
