Sambor II ruled East Pomerania as a vassal caught perpetually between the Teutonic Order and the Piast dukes of Poland, and his coinage reflects that precarious position — locally struck, thin, and technically crude by contemporary German standards. Bracteates of this type were produced by hammering a single die into a thin silver flan, creating an image in relief on one face and intaglio on the other. The Tczew mint, situated on the Vistula, served as his administrative center after he granted the Teutonic Knights substantial territorial concessions in the 1250s.
Kop#209 is among the scarcer attributions in the Kopicki sequence for this issuer.
