The lower field features a stylized figural or zoomorphic element of uncertain identification, consistent with the primitive die-cutting conventions of twelfth- and thirteenth-century Greater Polish issues. The overall design reflects the influence of Jewish mint-master engravers active under the Piast dukes, a distinctive feature of Polish bracteate coinage of this period. |
