The bishop holds a crozier in his left hand and raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction. The facial features are rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner with a prominent nimbus or mitre framing the head. The figure is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a partial inscription running along the outer margin. The overall composition reflects the bold, centralized iconographic conventions of 12th-century German episcopal bracteate issues. |
