| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of the abbot in high relief, rendered in the bracteate tradition, holding a crozier in one hand and a lily-staff in the other as emblems of ecclesiastical authority. The figure is positioned beneath a triple arcade or trefoil arch, above which rises a schematic architectural structure suggestive of the abbey facade or a city gate. The overall composition is typical of mid-13th-century German ecclesiastical bracteate coinage, with bold, stylised relief work characteristic of the Hersfeld mint. |
