The face is rendered with bold, stylised features characteristic of 12th-century German bracteate coinage. The entire design is struck in high relief on a thin silver flan, the image being visible as an incuse impression on the reverse, as is typical of bracteate technique. The field surrounding the figure is plain within the beaded border. |
