| Obverse description | Within a beaded or raised circular border, the standing frontal effigy of the archbishop, vested in full pontifical robes, flanked on either side by a cupola tower with a short ledge at its base. The archbishop wears the infula bicornis (two-horned miter) and holds a processional cross-staff in his right hand turned outward, while his left hand grasps a patriarchal or pastoral cross. The composition is characteristic of early 13th-century North German bracteate coinage, with bold, slightly stylized relief typical of the Magdeburg episcopal series. |
