| Beschrijving voorzijde | A stylized linden tree occupies the central field, its trunk rising from three splayed roots at the base and branching into seven leaves with sixteen blossoms borne on curved, bent stalks. The design is rendered in the flat, single-sided relief characteristic of bracteate coinage, with bold, schematic forms typical of late 12th-century South German ecclesiastical minting. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner border, itself surrounded by a raised outer beaded rim. The linden tree serves as a heraldic emblem referencing the toponym of Lindau (Linden Island), alluding directly to the issuing abbey. No legend is present. |
