Boleslaus II secured a bishopric for Prague in 973, bringing Bohemia into the Latin ecclesiastical orbit and giving the duchy a legitimizing institutional framework that directly influenced coin production. His deniers are among the earliest datable Bohemian silver issues, minted at a moment when the Přemyslid rulers were actively negotiating their position between the Ottonian empire and the expanding reach of Rome.
