Denier - Béla, Crown Prince of Hungary

Béla, Duke of Slavonia from 1260, was the eldest son of King Béla IV and stood as heir to the Hungarian throne — a position he never occupied, dying in 1269 before his father. The Duchy of Slavonia functioned as a semi-autonomous appanage with its own mint output, and these deniers represent one of the few coinage series issued in his name during that brief window of ducal authority.

ÉH#8 is among the earlier entries in Réthy's catalog of Hungarian coinage, placing it in a well-documented typological sequence, though surviving examples in clean condition are not common given the thin fabric typical of 13th-century Hungarian silver.
