正面描述 Central field features a long cross with a smaller cross at its apex, flanked by wedge-shaped ornaments in each quarter, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circular Latin legend +BELA DVX runs between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border, identifying the issuer as Béla, Duke (Crown Prince). The overall design is characteristic of early Hungarian hammered coinage, rendered in a bold, somewhat irregular style typical of eleventh-century Central European minting.

附加信息

Béla held the duchy of Nitra and the title dux while his brother András I occupied the throne — a subordinate position enshrined in the "ducal third," which granted Béla roughly one-third of Hungary's revenues and the right to strike his own coinage. That arrangement was uneasy from the start. By 1060 Béla had invaded with Polish military support, forcing András to flee; András died of injuries sustained when his litter collapsed under the stress of the retreat, though contemporaries were not always so generous in their interpretation of the circumstances.
