| Additional information |
Arnould II served as abbot of Saint-Bertin from 965 to his death in 987, presiding over a house already deep in the Flemish political orbit. The abbey's minting rights derived from Carolingian-era grants, and by the tenth century Saint-Bertin was one of relatively few ecclesiastical institutions in the low countries actively exercising those privileges in billon rather than relying entirely on comital issues.
PA#6790 is among the scarcer documented abbatial deniers of this region and period — surviving examples turn up occasionally in northern French hoards but rarely in quantity.
