The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which the circumferential legend is arranged. The outer legend reads ✠ DE SILVINIACO in Roman capitals, referencing the town of Souvigny and its celebrated Cluniac priory. The flan edges are irregular, characteristic of hammered billon production of the mid-thirteenth century. The overall composition follows the standard feudal denier format prevalent in the Bourbonnais region. |
