| Obverse description | Central field bears a stylized frontal bust or figure in low relief, rendered in the crude yet expressive Romanesque manner typical of 11th-century Swiss ecclesiastical coinage. The design is enclosed within a roughly circular flan of irregular outline, characteristic of hand-hammered silver deniers of this period. Surrounding the central motif are fragmentary portions of a legend, partially legible due to striking weakness and flan irregularities. The overall execution reflects the primitive die-cutting traditions of the Fraumünster Abbey workshop. |
