| Reverse description | A four-line Cyrillic inscription is contained within an oval or rounded cartouche formed by a beaded or rope-like border, reading the titulature of the issuing prince. The lettering is rendered in the angular, compressed Cyrillic script characteristic of early Muscovite wire coinage, with individual characters showing the archaic forms typical of 15th-century Russian epigraphy. The inscription identifies the ruler as Grand Duke Vasiliy, asserting his sovereign title in the traditional formula of the period. The flan is irregular and the inscription is partially visible depending on strike placement. |
