A pickaxe (acisculus), the moneyer's badge and a punning reference to his cognomen, appears in the left field. The portrait is executed in the late Republican style, with fine engraving of the facial features and deeply modelled hair. The design is enclosed within a wreath border, with the legend ACISCVLVS inscribed in the left field. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Europa seated upon a bull advancing to the right, her drapery billowing above her in a graceful arc as she grasps one of the bull's horns with her raised right hand and holds a billowing veil overhead with her left. The composition alludes to the mythological abduction of Europa by Jupiter in the guise of a bull. A serpent coils beneath the bull's legs in the lower field. The legend L•VALERIVS is inscribed in the exergue, identifying the moneyer Lucius Valerius Acisculus. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
