Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Ptolemy of Mauretania facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal portrait tradition. The king's hair is elaborately styled beneath a royal diadem, with visible detail in the locks framing the face. The bust is truncated at the shoulder, showing a draped paludamentum. The Latin legend REX PTOLEMAEVS runs around the periphery of the field.
