Reverse description A tall, rectangular cippus (inscribed stone pillar or boundary marker) occupies the central field, bearing the votive inscription in multiple lines. To the left and right of the cippus appear the letters S and C (Senatus Consultum), flanking the monument in the field. The moneyer's legend, L MESCINIVS RVFVS IIIVIR, runs around the outer periphery of the reverse. The composition is strictly epigraphic and architectural, with no figural elements, consistent with the austere civic iconography favoured in Augustan coinage of this series.
