Obverse description Bare diademed head of King Juba II facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic portrait style with curling hair and a plain diadem tied at the nape. The legend REX IVBA is distributed across the field in Latin characters, reading to the right of the portrait. The effigy displays the characteristic idealised physiognomy associated with the Mauretanian royal coinage, with strong facial features and a slightly elongated neck truncation.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering REX IVBA
