A blundered pseudo-legend, derived from a Roman Republican prototype, runs below the exergual line, reduced to a series of indistinct letter-like symbols. Pellets and wave-like linear ornaments fill the lower field, typical decorative elements of the Hungarian-group Celtic denarii. |

The "Hungarian Group" designation covers a cluster of late Celtic silver issues struck in the Carpathian Basin during the final century before the Roman consolidation of Pannonia. These coins circulated among populations under increasing pressure from both Roman expansion to the southwest and successive migrations from the east. Attribution remains contested — "uncertain Central European Celts" is honest, if unsatisfying, reflecting genuine scholarly disagreement about which tribal groupings were responsible for specific die sequences within the broader type.
