| Descripción del reverso | A nude Gallic warrior standing leftward in a biga galloping right, wielding a spear with his raised right hand and gripping a large oval shield in his left; the warrior occupies the chariot body alongside the charioteer, who holds the reins in the left hand and brandishes a whip with the right. The moneyer's name L•HOSTILIVS appears in the upper field and SASERN in the exergue or lower field, divided above and below the main design. A border of dots encircles the composition, which exhibits the bold, energetic line work characteristic of Roman Republican coinage circa 48 BC. |
