| Obverse description | Bare head of a bearded Gallic captive warrior facing right, with a chain around his neck symbolising subjugation; a large oval Gallic shield (clipeus) visible behind the head in the left field. The portrayal is rendered in a vigorous, naturalistic style characteristic of late Republican die-cutting. The field is unadorned, the type is anepigraphic, and the flan is bordered by a neat ring of dots. |
