| Beschrijving voorzijde | Galba depicted as an equestrian figure in military dress, riding a horse in full gallop to the right, raising his right arm in a gesture of command or salutation. The emperor is shown wearing a cuirass and military cloak (paludamentum) flowing behind him. The legend SER GALBA IMP arcs around the upper field, identifying the issuer as Servius Galba, Imperator. The die-work is bold and vigorous, characteristic of the hasty military mint production of Galba's brief reign. The coin's flan is irregular, as typical of issues struck outside the established Rome mint during the civil war period of 68–69 AD. |
