Cleopatra Selene II — daughter of Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony, paraded through Rome in Octavian's triumph of 29 BC — eventually became queen of Mauretania through her marriage to Juba II, a Numidian prince raised in Rome who was installed by Augustus as a client king. Her coinage as queen is exceptionally rare; most surviving Mauretanian silver of this period is attributed to Juba alone or to their son Ptolemy.
