The legend DEI•PENATES appears in the field, reading partially around the lower and left portions of the design. The composition is enclosed within a border of dots, characteristic of late Republican coinage. The jugate arrangement alludes to the divine pair of household gods venerated in Roman religion, a reference to the moneyer's gens and its religious associations. |
