| Descrizione del dritto | Draped bust of Feronia facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a wreath or diadem, depicted in high relief with finely rendered curling locks framing the face. The legend is distributed around the field: TVRPILIANVS to the right and III VIR to the left, identifying the moneyer Publius Petronius Turpilianus as Triumvir Monetalis. The abbreviated inscription FERON appears in the lower field beneath the bust, identifying the goddess Feronia. The portraiture exhibits the refined Hellenistic-influenced style characteristic of Augustan coinage, with sharp, confident die-cutting. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered silver issues of this period. |
