| Obverse description | Head of Italia facing left, wearing a Phrygian or crested helmet adorned with a wolf or animal-head crest in high relief, the visor open to reveal a finely rendered female visage with flowing hair escaping beneath the helm. The neck is draped, and the portrait is executed in a bold, somewhat archaic Italic style characteristic of Social War coinage. The Oscan legend VITELIÚ appears to the right of the bust in the field, reading downward in the Old Italic script. |

| Reverse description | A fully armed Italian warrior, wearing a crested Italic helmet, muscled cuirass, and short military tunic, stands facing right in a posture of martial authority. In his left hand he holds a long spear or standard, while his right hand extends a caduceus or sceptre toward the head of a large bull standing to the right, symbolising the Italian allies taking the oath against Rome. The bull, rendered in robust relief, faces left and appears to be goring or confronting the Roman she-wolf, a powerful propagandistic image asserting Italian independence. An Oscan letter appears in the lower field as a control mark. |
