The Eravisci were a Celtic tribe settled in Pannonia along the Danube bend, roughly where Budapest now stands. Their silver coinage is among the most studied of the Barbaric imitative series precisely because it mimics Roman republican denarii with unusual fidelity — suggesting direct, sustained contact with Roman merchants or military personnel rather than second-hand influence. Scholars have dated the series primarily to the late first century BC based on hoard associations, making the full range of 100–1 BC somewhat generous.
The tribe was formally absorbed into the Roman provincial system under Augustus.
