Obverse description Central device depicting the Columns of Gediminas (Gediminaičių stulpai), the dynastic heraldic symbol of the Lithuanian ruling house, rendered in a bold, primitive style characteristic of hammered medieval coinage. The columnar device, composed of a central pillar flanked by two shorter lateral columns topped with a finial, occupies the majority of the irregular flan. The field is unadorned and there is no surrounding legend. The striking is typical of early 15th-century Lithuanian minting, with flat relief and irregular flan edges.
