| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine high relief characteristic of late Classical Syracusan coinage. The youthful, idealised effigy displays finely engraved curling locks arranged beneath the laurel wreath, with individual leaves and berries modelled with exceptional artisanal precision. The facial features are smooth and idealized, with a straight nose and slightly parted lips, reflecting the refined Hellenistic artistic tradition of the Syracusan mint. The broad, unadorned field surrounding the portrait emphasizes the sculptural quality of the die work. No legend appears on the obverse. |
