The cross is rendered with crisp, high-relief lines characteristic of milled Portuguese coinage of this period. Surrounding the central cross, the circular Latin legend *IN HOC SIGNO VINCES* — meaning 'In this sign thou shalt conquer' — is separated from the device by a beaded inner border, with asterisk separators between words. A continuous reeded rim frames the entire design. |
