The cross is boldly rendered in the flat, unadorned style typical of Manueline-era Portuguese gold coinage. A Latin legend in Gothic lettering encircles the entire design between the inner beaded circle and the outer rim, referencing the Constantinian motto. The flan shows characteristic irregularity in shape and strike distribution consistent with hand-hammered production. |
