正面描述	The obverse features a large stylized high-relief depiction of a monetary weight in the form of a sawfish (poisson-scie), an Akan goldweight motif, centrally placed against a field decorated with a geometric triangular border pattern. The legend BANQUE CENTRALE DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST is inscribed across the field to the right of the device, with the founding and anniversary dates 1 NOVEMBRE 1962 and 1 NOVEMBRE 1967 to the lower left. The engraver's initials RL appear in the lower exergue.

背面描述	The reverse displays seven heraldic shields arranged in a circle, each representing a member state of the West African Monetary Union: Haute-Volta, Mauritanie, Niger, Sénégal, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Dahomey, with the respective country names inscribed around the rim. Between the shields, the legend UNION MONÉTAIRE is repeated in a radiating pattern. The central field bears the inscription TRAITÉ / 12 MAI 1962 / ACCORD DE COOPÉRATION. The rim is decorated with geometric patterned borders.
