The Greek royal legend ΒΑΣ ΣΑΡ (abbreviation for ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΑΡΙΑΚΟΥ, 'of King Sariakes') is distributed around the star, with ΒΑΣ to the upper left and ΣΑΡ to the upper right. The star motif is a dynastic symbol frequently employed on Skythian royal bronze coinage of the Hellenistic period. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hammered bronzes of this era. |
