Flanking the altar shaft are two ribboned diadems (type R?), a hallmark motif of early Sasanian coinage symbolizing royal and divine authority. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the surrounding field. The design is characteristic of the inaugural Sasanian bronze coinage under Ardashir I. |
