| Obverse description | Draped bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing a diademed Parthian-style tiara ornamented with a star device. The effigy is rendered in low relief in the characteristic early Sasanian artistic tradition, with bold, stylized facial features. The legend in Inscriptional Pahlavi runs along the upper field surrounding the portrait. |
