The left panel provides an endorsement section headed 1) GIRANT with fields for the endorsee (Girat către), date, and a space for the guarantor's signature and seal (Semnătura girant / L.S.), accompanied below by a payment-purpose grid with columns for SCOPUL PLĂȚII, SUME PARȚIALE, SUME TOTALE, and COD OP. NUM., with a TOTAL line at the foot. Banca Agricolă S.A. was one of Romania's largest state-controlled commercial banks through the 1990s, carrying a substantial inherited portfolio of bad agricultural loans from the communist-era cooperative system. By 1998, the bank was effectively insolvent — a fact the government was slow to acknowledge. It was eventually restructured and absorbed into Raiffeisen Bank România in 2002 after a costly state bailout that drew criticism from the IMF.
These instruments date from the period when the bank was still operating under the fiction of solvency.
