Lopadusa — modern Lampedusa — was a tiny island stop in the Sicilian channel whose autonomous coinage remains poorly understood. The civic issues attributed to it are rare enough that SNG Copenhagen 483 represents one of the few anchoring references for the type. Whether the island functioned as an independent community or under loose Carthaginian or Roman influence during this period is still debated among specialists in Sicilian numismatics.
