Descrição do anverso Stylized head in Celtic artistic style, rendered with schematic facial features typical of Gaulish coinage of the late La Tène period. The design is executed in low relief with characteristically abstract treatment of the hair or headdress, composed of pellets and curved lines radiating from the central motif. The inscription AV appears in the field, likely an abbreviated tribal or magistrate reference. The overall composition reflects the degenerate classical prototype common among Armorican and northern Gaulish bronzes of the mid-first century BC.

Informações adicionais

The Aulerci Eburovices occupied territory centered around modern Évreux in Normandy, one of several Belgic-influenced Gaulish tribes whose bronze coinage proliferated sharply in the decade straddling Caesar's campaigns. This particular issue falls squarely within the Gallic War period, when tribal minting activity intensified — partly from economic pressure, partly from the logistical demands of fielding warriors and provisioning resistance.

DT 2457 is well-documented within the Delestrée-Tache corpus, which remains the authoritative reference for northern Gaulish bronzes.
