正面描述 Stylized male head facing right, rendered in the characteristic late Gaulish Celtic abstract manner with schematic facial features and flowing, volute-like hair strands radiating around the cranium. The relief is moderately high with deeply cut curvilinear hair locks arranged in a fan-like pattern above and behind the head. The legend VERCA appears in the field, identifying the issuing authority or a magistrate name. The flan is irregular and struck off-center, as is typical of late Arvernian bronze coinage of this period.

附加信息

The Arverni were the dominant tribe of central Gaul — it was their king, Vercingetorix, who united the Gallic coalition against Caesar in 52 BC. The defeat at Alesia effectively ended Arvernian political power, and bronze issues like this one belong to the turbulent decades immediately following that collapse, when tribal minting continued under Roman pressure but with diminishing administrative coherence. Production quality varies sharply across the type.
