Reverse description Reverse likewise imitating a Fatimid dinar of Al-Amir, displaying a central roundel enclosing a cross pattée set within a circle, a distinctive Crusader addition that distinguishes this first type from its purely Islamic prototypes. Concentric raised fillets encircle the central device, with an outer marginal band bearing a further degraded Arabic inscription copying the Fatimid reverse legends. The cross in the central field reveals the Christian identity of the issuer while the surrounding Arabic epigraphy preserves the overall appearance of the Fatimid gold dinar to facilitate acceptance in Levantine trade.
