This aureus belongs to a politically loaded moment: Titus held the imperatorial acclamation for the eighth time in 75 AD, a figure inflated well beyond battlefield reality to project martial authority during his father Vespasian's reign. Titus was being groomed with aggressive transparency — joint tribunician power, co-consul repeatedly, and these stacked imperatorial numbers served the Flavian succession narrative as much as any military result.
RIC II.1 786 is a Vespasian-era Rome mint issue, placing its production squarely before Titus's own reign began in 79 AD.
