The legend BON EVENT arcs along the right field, identifying the personification as Bonus Eventus, the Roman deity of good fortune and successful enterprise. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck gold coinage of the Year of the Four Emperors period. The overall workmanship reflects the Rome Mint's output during the turbulent interregnum of 68–69 AD. |
