The legend L·MVSSIDIVS LONGVS is disposed in two vertical lines flanking the central device to left and right, identifying Lucius Mussidius Longus, the moneyer responsible for this issue. The entire design is enclosed within a uniform border of raised dots, consistent with the careful die-cutting characteristic of late Republican gold coinage. |
