The laurel wreath is rendered with carefully detailed individual leaves bound at the brow, framing a stern, mature imperial visage. The obverse legend encircles the portrait in a continuous band within a beaded border. The effigy is executed in the robust, slightly stylized manner characteristic of the Nicomedia mint during the early fourth century. |
